Free QR code generator

Paste a link, pick your colours, download a PNG or SVG. No sign-up, no watermark, nothing uploaded.

PNG is 1000×1000px, print-ready. SVG scales to any size. Nothing is uploaded; the code is generated in your browser.

Want to know how many people scan it? Put a short link behind the QR and every scan is counted.

Your QR code appears here as you type.

How to make a QR code

  1. Paste the URL (or any text) into the box above. The code updates as you type.
  2. Optionally change the foreground and background colours. Keep the contrast high.
  3. Click Download PNG for screens and most print, or Download SVG for large-format print.
  4. Scan it with your phone once before you print it anywhere.

Common questions

Is this QR code generator really free?

Yes. No account, no limit, no watermark on codes made on this page. The code is generated in your browser and nothing is uploaded.

Do these QR codes expire?

No. A QR code is just the URL encoded as an image, so it works for as long as the URL does.

PNG or SVG?

PNG (1000×1000px) is fine for most print and screen use. SVG is a vector file, so it stays sharp at any size and is best for professional print.

How do I know how many people scanned it?

Put an hshr.it short link behind the QR code. Every scan opens the short link first, so it shows up as a click in your dashboard. A free account includes 25 links with click counts.

Can I change where the QR code points later?

Only if the code points to a short link. Edit the short link's destination in hshr.it and every printed code follows, no reprinting.

What's the best colour contrast?

Dark foreground on a light background scans most reliably. Avoid light-on-dark or low-contrast pairs, and test with your phone before printing.
